Abstract

This article is mostly about my personal impressions, feelings and thoughts brought up in the process of entering the international Adventure Therapy (AT) network. It is grounded on self-reflections and discussions with colleagues in the network, as well as on a small-scale survey I made during the spring 2022 among Adventure Therapy International Committee (ATIC) members. In these Sauna-reflections dialogue is a unifying concept: In dialogic practice the goal is a common understanding of the subject matter or some practical agreement on it. In Finnish culture sauna baths are an integral part of everyday or weekly life, giving a setting for reflective thinking and discussions, hence the title of this article. Globally, different cultures have their own contemplative practices that hopefully can enrich each other and be shared in the field of adventure therapy.
